Medical Computer Cart Buying Guide Hong Kong
Share
A medical computer cart should support the clinical workflow, not make it harder. The right cart depends on where it will be used, what computer or display is mounted, what accessories are needed and how often the workstation moves between patients or rooms.
1. Define the clinical workflow
Start with the task: medication administration, ward rounds, telemedicine, documentation, equipment support or general mobile computing. Each workflow needs a different mix of work surface, storage and accessories.
2. Check device mounting
Confirm the monitor, all-in-one PC or laptop dimensions, weight and mounting method. If a VESA monitor is used, confirm the mounting pattern and weight range before selecting the arm or bracket.
3. Height adjustment and ergonomics
For shared carts, easy height adjustment can help users work comfortably while sitting or standing. Keyboard and mouse position, screen height and work-surface depth should be checked together.
4. Mobility and footprint
Hospitals often have narrow corridors and crowded rooms. Compare base dimensions, castor size, turning radius and overall stability, especially when equipment is mounted above the work surface.
5. Power requirements
If the cart must run away from a wall outlet, define the required equipment load and expected operating time before choosing a battery system. Battery capacity should be matched to the actual computer and peripherals.
6. Storage and accessories
Common options include drawers, baskets, CPU holders, printer shelves, scanner mounts and cable management. Add only the accessories required by the workflow so the cart remains compact and easy to move.
