Employee Locker & Changing Locker Buying Guide for Hong Kong
Choosing lockers for a workplace, school, hospital or industrial site is not only about compartment size. The right system should match the number of users, the items being stored, access-control requirements, available floor space and how the lockers will be managed day to day.
1. Start with the user group
For fixed staff allocation, traditional key or combination lockers may be enough. For shared or flexible workplaces, electronic or smart lockers can reduce manual key handling and make it easier to reassign compartments.
2. Decide what will be stored
Clothing and personal belongings need different internal dimensions from laptops, tools, helmets or PPE. Measure the largest item before deciding the compartment layout.
3. Choose the access method
Options may include keys, PIN codes, RFID cards or centrally managed smart-locker access. The best choice depends on security policy, number of users and whether an audit trail is required.
4. Consider material and environment
Metal lockers are common for industrial and staff-changing areas, while other finishes may suit offices, schools or front-of-house environments. Ventilation, cleaning and corrosion exposure should also be considered.
5. Plan for installation and future expansion
Confirm wall clearance, door swing, floor loading, power and network requirements for electronic systems. For multi-site projects, use a repeatable compartment and access-control standard.
